Why is my credit card being rejected?
We know how frustrating it can be when you’re ready to take control of your job search and a payment issue gets in the way. If your credit card is being rejected, don’t worry, this is usually a quick fix, and we’re here to help you troubleshoot.
Credit card rejections can happen for several reasons, most of which are easy to resolve. The key is making sure your payment information is accurate and that your bank allows online and international transactions.
Common reasons for payment rejection
Let’s walk through the most frequent causes and how to address them:
Incorrect information
Double-check that your credit card number, expiration date, and security code (CVV) are entered correctly. Even a small typo can cause a rejection.
Insufficient funds
Verify that you have enough available credit or funds to cover the payment amount.
Late or missed payments
If you have an overdue payment on your credit card account, your bank may temporarily block new transactions until it’s resolved.
Expired card
Check your card’s expiration date. If it has expired, you’ll need to update your payment information with your current card details.
Maxed-out credit
If you’ve reached your credit limit, your payment will be declined. Consider using a different payment method or increasing your available credit.
Fraud detection systems
Banks use sophisticated fraud prevention systems to protect you. Sometimes legitimate transactions are flagged by mistake, especially for online purchases. If this happens, contact your bank directly to confirm the purchase is authorized.
Foreign or international transactions
JobLeads processes payments internationally. Make sure your bank allows online and international payments. Some cards have restrictions on cross-border transactions that need to be lifted.
Technical glitches
Occasionally, technical issues occur on either end. If you suspect this might be the problem, try again later using a secure internet connection and an updated browser.
3-D Secure not configured
Your credit card may require 3-D Secure authentication, an extra security layer for online payments. If this isn’t set up correctly, your payment could be rejected.

What to do next
If you’ve checked all of the above and your payment is still being rejected, we recommend to:
Contact your bank to confirm there are no blocks or restrictions on your account.
Try a different payment method such as PayPal or another credit card.
