JobLeads uses an algorithm-driven system to match you with headhunters based on your job searches, saved searches, and profile preferences. If your matches aren’t hitting the mark, it usually means your search criteria needs some fine-tuning.

The good news? This is easy to fix. Here’s how to improve your headhunter matches.

Update your saved searches

Headhunter matches are generated based on what you’re actively searching for on the platform. If your saved searches are outdated or too broad, your headhunter matches will reflect that.

Review your saved searches and make sure they align with what you’re currently looking for:

• Location: Have your geographic preferences changed?

• Keywords: Are your job titles and search terms still relevant?

The more accurate your saved searches, the better your headhunter matches will be.

Check your country preference

On the Headhunters page, you can select which country you want headhunter matches for. Make sure this is set to where you're actually looking for work. You can change it at any time. If you switch country after matches have already been generated, a confirmation prompt will appear and your updated matches will be ready within 24 hours.

Understand how matching works

JobLeads analyzes headhunters based on the jobs they’ve published in the last 12 months. When our algorithm sees patterns between what you’re searching for and what a headhunter specializes in, it creates a match.

This means:

• If you’re searching for senior marketing roles in tech, you’ll be matched with headhunters who frequently place those types of positions

• If your searches are too generic or scattered, your matches will be less targeted

Think of it this way: the more specific you are about what you want, the more specific we can be about who can help you get there.

Regenerate your matches regularly

Headhunter matches refresh every 60 days. When your matches expire, you’ll be prompted to regenerate them based on your current search activity and preferences.

Premium members get entirely unique headhunters each time, no duplicates from previous generations. The system maintains a complete history to ensure you’re always seeing fresh matches.

Basic members may see some repeat matches after regenerating, as the system doesn’t track previously shown headhunters.

If you haven’t regenerated in a while, or if your search criteria have changed significantly, now’s the time to refresh your matches.

Give the algorithm something to work with

If you’re not running regular searches, or you don’t have any saved searches set up, the algorithm has less data to match you with relevant headhunters. The more you use the platform, searching, saving searches, bookmarking jobs, the smarter your matches become.
